Here are a few reasons why you’ll want to stick with brushing twice a day instead of just once in the morning.
When you don’t brush your teeth, plaque begins to develop and harden on your teeth. This sticky, fuzzy grime builds up within 24 hours and the only way to disrupt the growth is by brushing your teeth. Brushing once a day, such as in the morning when you get up, will at minimum keep the plaque at bay. In turn, you’ll be able to minimize your risk of developing bum disease, which is caused by the build up of plaque infecting your gum line. One symptom of gum disease is bleeding gums, so if you see blood in the sink, you may want to up your brushing game.
Cavities, on the other hand, will be difficult to avoid if you’re only brushing once a day. Cavities form due to tooth decay. Teeth decay occurs when food is left behind on your teeth. Bacteria break down this food and create acids. In combination with your saliva and other food debris, your teeth eventually build up plaque. This plaque dissolves the enamel and creates holes in your teeth. Brushing once in the morning and once at night will stop the bacteria and growth of plaque. In addition, the plaque and extra food debris are the culprits of bad breath. Brush your teeth twice a day and you’ll be able to avoid these dental hygiene problems.
